A build of Dinosaur Planet, an unreleased Nintendo 64 title by developer Rare, has finally been unearthed.

According to Game Revolution, a build of the game, which would go on to evolve into GameCube’s Star Fox Adventures, is now out in the wild. Thanks to preservationist group Forest of Illusion, anyone can now tinker with a near-complete version of the original title.

Years after the project was shuttered and development switched to GameCube, the build was extracted from a disc purchased from a private collector.

Dinosaur Planet began as a standalone title independent of the Star Fox franchise. With input from Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto, however, it ultimately shifted to a platforming and adventure-focused entry in the Star Fox series. The game followed a character named Sabre as he journeyed through the titular dinosaur-laden planet with blue fox Krystal, who remained for Star Fox Adventures.

You can try it out by downloading the build to a flashcart, which can be used on original Nintendo 64 systems. Forest of Illusion notes the game won’t run “100 percent perfectly” on emulators. Otherwise, there are plentiful videos online showcasing playthroughs of Dinosaur Planet to watch instead.
